Student Discipline and Special Education Law

As a former school board attorney, Brian Elston knows the processes and procedures involving student discipline and students with a disability. While he was a school board attorney, Brian represented multiple school boards across Western North Carolina regarding student discipline and special education matters. Brian attended board hearings, IEP meetings, manifestation determination meetings, and resolution meetings. He has represented school boards in due process petitions and complaints filed in federal court regarding alleged violation of the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. Brian’s background allows him to effectively deal with public and private schools in asserting rights for students with discipline issues and persons with disabilities.
